"Out of Place" BETTER Friday: We Rethought Black Friday for 2025

Black Friday has always felt a little "out of place" for Immersion Research.  We felt a disconnect following an industry habit of huge sales during a time meant for giving.

This year, we're breaking the habit.  Instead of following the usual formula, we created something entirely different: BETTER Friday.

The Concept

BETTER Friday flips the traditional Black Friday model on its head.  From Monday to Monday, 50% of our sales go directly to local organizations that support communities where we live and work.  Huge sale OUT.  Tangible difference IN.

To tie the campaign together, we leaned into the idea of being "Out of Place."  We put dry suits in locations and activities they wouldn't normally appear like skiing, grocery shopping, spin class, bouldering, mowing the lawn, and skating.  Some of these situations are absurd (also sweaty), some are just unexpected.  

The Causes

Our homebase(s) are that of Confluence, PA and Hood River, OR.  Home to two amazing charities supported by BETTER Friday.  Get to know:

FISH Food Bank - Hood River, OR

FISH Food Bank helps families in Hood River County and Mosier get the food and essentials they need.  They provide fresh produce, pantry staples, and emergency food, all in a welcoming, nonjudgemental environment.  With distribution sites in Hood River, Parkdale, and Cascade Locks, FISH makes it easy for people to get help each month.  Volunteers and donations from the community keep the pantry running and make a real difference for local families.

Turkeyfoot Food Pantry - Confluence, PA

Turkeyfoot Food Pantry serves families in the Turkeyfoot Valley area of Confluence, PA.  They provide monthly food distributions through a mobile pantry, helping local residents access healthy, essential food.  Community volunteers and donations make the pantry possible, and the organzation works closely with the local school district to support neighbors in need.
