Who

You’re invited and bring friends! Don’t have a boat? You can still come! Rafts and safety equipment have been generously provided by All-Star Rafting. If you intend to ride along in one of the provided rafts, PLEASE RSVP to jake@immersionresearch.com to confirm we have raft space available. We also need on-land volunteers at the put-in, take-out, and roadside drop points.

Why

This section of the Klickitat River could use some love. Let's support healthy watersheds and give back to our local community together! Additionally, all volunteers will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win great prizes from IR and other local businesses!

What you need to know

Volunteers should expect to paddle the river and pick up litter in the water and on the banks.

Rafts and Canoes can hold a lot of trash. All Star Rafting in White Salmon, Washington has kindly offered to provide some rafts and equipment for the cleanup.

You'll be responsible for your own shuttle. We will do our best to consolidate vehicles at the campground but please due be aware of the situation. We may be able to provide some help with shuttle but we can play it by ear the day of the clean-up.

What you should bring

  • Paddling gear including safety equipment! (PFD & Helmets)
  • Temperature appropriate clothing for paddling, wading, and walking on the muddy shore
  • Good footwear for the river
  • Gloves (neoprene is ideal for the water, leather for cleaning the banks)
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Hand sanitizer

The Plan

We'll meet at Turkey Hole Campground by 9am. At 9:15-9:30 AM we'll head to the put in and drop gear. We'll then consolidate vehicles and head to the put-in.

Working our way down the river we'll collect as much trash as possible. At direct roadside sections we can lighten our boats by leaving trash bags off the side of the road to collect later.

After we've all made it to the takeout and all trash has been gathered we will have a volunteer appreciation raffle. We expect this to be around noon but it could be earlier or later depending on how things go with the clean up.
